Sturgis: The good with the bad

Last night and today we have had very high winds. Not comfortable for camping or biking. We heard the sirens went off downtown which only go off if the winds are over 60 MPH. If we were not so nervous we would have video taped the tent action. We were prepared and well staked and did not go rolling across the field like some. Today winds were 30 MPH gusting to 45MPH. One of camping niegbors had a stove fire this morning & Tom saved the day by putting it out with water we had.
We went downtown to explore and shopped for some needed things and we were able to get a warrantied item on the bike replaced very quickly that just failed.
We then took a ride to Spearfish to check out the area & did more shopping and headed over to Deadwood on a very scenic ride thru the Black Hills. Deadwood was fun to explore and many bikers are arriving.
The scenic road back from Deadwood to Sturgis was amazing. The winds are expected to die down shortly and tomorrow's forecast is wonderful for touring, so that's what we'll do!

    Hi! Wow I know about strong winds there, we were camping in the Badlands at the time with the kids (little) thought our pop up was going to go over. Yes the Badlands are like you are on another planet, so cool! The Black Hills are so beautiful too! Stay safe and keep blogging! Hugs, Kathy H

      Yes! Everyone at least once in their lifetime need to experience this beautiful part of America!
