After drying out at our campsite in Sturgis we headed out of town. We were very lucky and grateful we made it out with no damage. So many tents were flooded, damaged beyond repair or blown away. One guy near us had a large limb fall on his tent & bike. Several people just left after the storm passed last night, so leaving out of town was smooth. The temperature dropped significantly and we needed to bundle up. When we got into Wyoming, Tom said "I'm waiting for it to snow!" I had 2 pairs of pants, 3 shirts & a jacket, turtle fur hat, 2 pairs of socks! We were cold until the sun warmed up around noon. The route to Big Horn National Forest

where Sibley lake is was very enjoyable. The scenery of rolling meadows and mountain ranges, rivers and canyons were immense. Their were few ranch homes but thousands of acres apart. We saw coal trains that curved around from one side of the road to another. We both could envision Cowboys with their cattle riding over the wide open ranges. During the winter or accidents the highways will close and gates will come down. You must turn around to the next town or be fined.

When we started climbing the Big Horn Mountain range we saw a forest fire in the distance and we were afraid we would need to head back. It was far enough south of us and they were able to get it under control quickly. We climbed the mountain using a couple dozen switchbacks to about 9,000 ft.

The magnificent views were numerous and majestic After snaking our way to the top we found our camp. Very pretty lake views and we settled in to a very brisk night.

It was pretty remote with no phone or internet service.Tom said I should have seen my face when I got out of the tent in the morning. It was "freezing!" We bundled up and headed down the mountain with several more beautiful switchbacks, canyons and waterfalls.
We started peeling our layers off going down the mountain. We went through GreyBull and several small towns with populations of 10-50 people! We made it to Cody, Wyoming the home of Buffalo Bill. We are staying 2 nights in a KOA.
No photos are able to be posted until we have better Internet in a week or so.
